1. Penile fracture .
Of course, your penis doesn’t have any bones that can break, but it does have what’s called the corpora cavernosa, which, thanks to the blood flow, swell like a car tire, making your penis hard. And if you mistakenly try to insert it into something hard, or the wrong shape, or at an awkward angle, you can easily damage it.
“We jokingly call it eggplant syndrome because the penis turns purple and huge due to the blood flow , ” explains Richard Santucci, MD, PhD, director of the Center for Urologic Reconstruction at Detroit Medical Center. Naturally, your erection will immediately disappear. Although such injuries are quite common, your eggplant will still require surgery. “Typically, we make an incision, locate the damaged area, and sew it back together,” explains Dr. Santucci. To avoid such consequences, avoid overly vigorous sex in positions such as “cowgirl.”
2. Chafing.
Sex without lube is like making love with a Chinese finger trap . When you insert your penis into something equally hard and dry, burning, tingling, and redness are a natural consequence. Don’t forget to lube next time to avoid further chafing. And to heal any existing injuries, use a soothing lotion or aloe vera gel. Also, take a break from sex to give your penis time to heal.
3. Swelling from a penis ring.
The main benefit of using a penis ring is that it significantly increases the duration of your erection. The main drawback, however, is that if you wear it for too long, or if it’s too tight, it will block blood circulation and your penis can become seriously swollen. And if you don’t remove it promptly, your erection could remain permanent (science calls this condition “priapism,” but that doesn’t make it any easier). Furthermore, the ring can damage the skin of the penis. “I once saw a guy who managed to put a homemade metal ring on his penis, ” says Dr. Santucci . “Removing it was really difficult. The material was like steel. We had to call the fire department to bring a saw used to open cars after accidents. The whole operation took several hours.” So what’s the moral of the story? Our advice: don’t use this tool at all, and especially don’t try to make an erection ring yourself. If you do buy one, make sure it has special clasps or Velcro that allow you to quickly remove it.
4. Hickeys.
If your partner is an expert in oral sex or you use various vacuum toys from a sex shop, be prepared for reddish-purple marks to remain on your penis as a result of excessive suction. These are essentially hickeys you’re used to, just in an unusual place. And, like any other hickey, this one is caused by ruptured blood vessels and blood pooling under the skin of your penis. However, since the skin there is very sensitive, never use folk remedies like brushing it with a dry toothbrush. Simply leave it alone, and it will go away on its own in a couple of days. If the hickey lasts for more than a week, it’s worth consulting a doctor: it might not be a hickey at all, but a dislocation or fracture, as mentioned in the first point.
5. Bite.
The last thing you want to hear during a blowjob is a crunch. If you do get bitten, first check to see if the skin is broken. If so, apply antibacterial cream immediately. If the damage is more severe and the wound is bleeding, apply a sterile bandage to the organ, tie a tourniquet around it closer to the head, and call an ambulance. To maintain blood flow, remove the tourniquet for half a minute every half hour in winter, and every hour in summer. You can take a painkiller until the doctor arrives.
6. Penile pain.
After a sex marathon, the skin on your penis may be damaged. If you didn’t forget to lube and it’s not just chafing, the redness is caused by an erection that lasted too long. This requires a large blood flow, and if your sex was very long, this is likely the cause of the pain. Don’t worry, champ: the pain will go away in a day or two.
7. Testicular pain.
Sex shouldn’t bother your testicles too much, but you may occasionally feel a slight ache. If your lovemaking involved twisting, pulling, or squeezing (even gently!) your testicles, this could be the cause of the pain. Remember, they are very sensitive and should be treated with care. Similar injuries can also occur after a very intense orgasm or powerful ejaculation. There’s no treatment or instructions for this situation yet, so all we can say is, “Congratulations on your powerful orgasm .
