Premature ejaculation, along with impotence, is one of the most common male sexual dysfunctions.

Approximately every third man has this problem.

Many men experience problems with ejaculation control early in their sexual lives, and this is natural. This is due to physiological hyperactivity in youth, high levels of arousal, and the tendency to have multiple sexual encounters in a short period of time.Ways to resolve the problem

The typical man learns to control his ejaculation reflex while continuing to have sex. Some help themselves by masturbating before meeting their partner, drinking a small amount of alcohol before intercourse, shortening the duration of initial lovemaking, repeating intercourse soon after the first, etc. For many men, these methods are effective. However, if they fail, they turn to sex shops for help (ointments and gels that delay ejaculation) and love forums for help (methods for learning how to delay ejaculation). Sometimes, an experienced partner can be helpful.

Thanks to this, most men can control their ejaculation reflex and adapt it to a woman’s sexual response. In cases of more specific disorders, men seek medical help.

Most commonly, they use oral medications (eg, clomipramine, fluoxetine), ointments or gels, and partner-assisted training. Experience shows that these methods are effective in 90% of men seeking help. However, some patients have found that their premature ejaculation lasts for decades!Causes of premature ejaculation

Why do standard treatments fail in 10% of patients?

The reasons are as follows:

  • Pudendal nerve hyperactivity. This can be detected with specialized measuring equipment. The impulses in this nerve are excessively intense and rapid. Some studies suggest this is a congenital problem.
  • Constant hypersensitivity of the penis. It can be congenital or acquired, for example, after an infection.
  • Incorrectly coded reflexive reactions associated with a man’s sexual activity in his youth, such as one-time contacts with a partner, long breaks between sexual contacts, and the absence of long-term relationships that facilitate ejaculation control.
  • Congenital or acquired weak tone of the urethral sphincter muscles. This mechanism can only be identified through examination using a device.
  • Premature ejaculation can lead to a lack of desire for sex. Many relationships fall apart because of it. This constant frustration greatly undermines a man’s self-esteem as a lover. He feels inferior to other men and blames himself for his partner’s disappointment and dissatisfaction.

Treatment methods for premature ejaculation

Currently used:

  • Injections into the cavernous bodies of the penis.

After a preliminary examination and training, the man injects prostaglandin into his corpora cavernosa immediately before intercourse. At the beginning of treatment, ejaculation still occurs earlier than expected, but the penis remains erect, and intercourse continues. After some time, ejaculation begins to be delayed.

  • A medicine called Viagra.

The mechanism of action of this method is similar to the previous one, but after ejaculation, the erection of the penis sometimes temporarily decreases or disappears, and then returns.

  • Sphincter muscle training.

This involves electrotherapy, physical therapy, and biofeedback. Treatment is performed in a specialized room with the appropriate equipment. On average, 15-20 sessions are performed at frequent intervals (daily or 3-4 times a week). The effectiveness of this treatment method is 49-56%.

  • Combination methods – a combination of these methods, as well as the use of oral medications.

Thanks to new methods, the effectiveness of premature ejaculation treatment is estimated at 97%. Their 3% ineffectiveness is explained by the fact that all the causes of this disorder have not yet been identified.
