What is jelqing and how to do it

If you know what bodybuilding is, then understanding jelqing won’t be difficult. It’s bodybuilding, just for the penis.

The verb “to jelq” is slang for “to milk,” and jelqing is an exercise or training routine that resembles the process of milking. Jelqing manuals recommend practicing this way.

1. Apply lubricant to the penis

This could be a lubricant, warm Vaseline oil, or, for example, baby oil.

2. Achieve a partial erection

Stroking, raise the penis to 50-75% of its peak. Don’t allow it to reach full erection! For jelqing, it’s important that the penis isn’t completely hard; blood should circulate freely and without obstruction.

3. Form an OK sign with your fingers.

Form a circle with the thumb and index finger of any hand that’s comfortable for you. This position is called the OK grip.

4. Begin the massage

Perform an OK grip on the base of the penis. Bring your thumb and index finger together so they apply pressure to the penis—not too much, so it shouldn’t hurt. Move your fingers upward, as if trying to force blood out of the penis. When your fingers reach the underside of the penis, release your grip.

Each upward movement should take 2–3 seconds. Repeat this 100 times—this should take about five minutes.

However, before you do this, please read the information below.

Can jelqing make your penis bigger?

Of course, proponents of the method say “Yes!” and even offer arguments as to why it should work.

For example, this: “milking” increases blood flow to the penis, which trains the organ to hold more blood during an erection. Or this: jelqing causes micro-tears in the penile tissue, which are replaced by connective tissue. The penis becomes covered in a network of tiny scars, which give it additional volume.

The only problem is that there is no scientific evidence to support these arguments.

No studies have been conducted on the effectiveness of jelqing. This is because doctors see no reason to seriously test such heresy. “Jelqing proponents clearly don’t understand how the penis works,” urologist Jesse N. Mills, MD, who specializes in surgical and medicinal penis enlargement, told Men’s Health.

A link to the first, and apparently only, study on jelqing was published on Reddit in late 2018. It involved just seven men who “milked” their penises 200 times daily for three months.

The results were, to put it mildly, lackluster: the average increase in length was 0.13 inches (about 3 mm), and in girth, 0.3 inches (about 7 mm). Some participants saw no change at all.

Even the study’s author, Jeff Ferrara, a specialist in men’s sexual health, was forced to admit that jelqing does not have any significant effect on increasing the size of an erect penis.

If you want to try jelqing, you need to understand: you’ll be doing it only for pleasure. “Milking” won’t make your penis grow.

If you still want to increase your penis size, it’s best to work on your excess weight. Once you lose fat around your pubic area, your penis will begin to appear larger. Hair removal can also help: removing pubic hair will make your penis more noticeable and visually longer.
